Svankmajer's works often take human animality as the object, showing the subconscious desire, sexual desire, fetishism, and oral symptoms of the human soul world, and expressing his theme with a wonderful narrative technique.
In his work "food", he uses a short film to tell the story of a square table, two chairs, and rubbish everywhere on the ground in a shabby hut. Capitalism and consumerism sat down face to face. Food was put on the table. Consumers didn't know how to eat food, so they secretly looked at capitalism next to them. Gradually, consumers continue to imitate the actions of capitalism and forget themselves. Through constant imitation and mindless following, consumers fall into the trap of capitalist design and eventually lose themselves and become the food of capitalism.
This work inspired me to do stop motion animation. Svankmajer shows the relationship between capitalism and consumers in a strange way. Through this short film, I decided to do a freeze-frame animation with the same theme to salute him. In my works, I want to add my identity to think about the relationship between consumers and consumer society and add more elements of China. In terms of movie material, I want to combine 3D collage with freeze-frame animation. Svankmajer's works bring me a lot of inspiration in the choice of images and strange plot settings. I will continue to explore his film language and combine them with my works.
