ARTIST STATEMENT
My practice is to discuss the alienation of consumption context between people and things under the influence of consumerism. As Jean Baudrillard (1996)points out that In the society where consumerism prevails, the status of people and goods has been changed. People are no longer the main body of guiding production, but adjust their lives with the changing rhythm of goods. people began to build social relations through consumption. I am very interested in this phenomenon and want to express my feelings about this phenomenon through visual language
In practice, I did some collage and sculpture about consumerism. I extracted some elements from collage and combined them with screen printing to make a paper sculpture. I put the receipts as a symbol of consumerism culture into my works to discuss the anomalies of contemporary consumerism.
These works are based on my feelings about my life. After I came to England, I began to have the habit of collecting receipts. One day when I looked in my drawer, I found that I had accumulated a lot of receipts. It made me think about my relationship with consumerism. What makes us consume constantly? Is it our own needs or our pursuit of symbolic value. when I saw the receipts that I realized that the influence of consumerism has penetrated into all aspects of my life that's my original idea for this work, so I made the receipts as a key element of this series. Next, I want to continue the relationship between the social-cultural and consumerism context. Influenced by Rauschenberg's works. I will express them with comprehensive materials in my life.
